Reading for Information

Good morning,

Please read the Blog very carefully so that you know exactly what to do for our Work-on-Writing assignment this week. You are all developing some very good skills, so please use them throughout this assignment.

Today, please read and record the Learning Intention and Criteria on the left-hand side of your Reading Log. You will actually complete the assignment this week in the classroom.

 

Learning Intention: I can identify the topic, main idea and write three supporting details.

Criteria: 1) Identify article’s topic

              2) Identify article’s main idea
              3) Record three details (short, accurate notes)
              4) Print neatly and accurately

Below your Criteria, write the following headings and then complete the task (remember, this is all completed on the left-hand side of your notebook)

Task Description:

1.    Choose a card from one of our two selections of reading cards (beside the Math Center)

2.   Scan the article to get a quick idea of the content and record the topic (look at all the text features: headings, tables, side notes, pictures)

3.   Read the article carefully and record the main idea (do not record any notes the first time you read)
